Lesson
and Test TEKS: 8.1C, 8.4 B,C, 8.16A,C,D, 8.3A, 8.20A
If your prefer to teach this in two short segments:
-
Questions 1- 32 in the Reading Study Guide cover settlement through
the Treaty of Paris.
- Questions
33 – 64 in the Reading Study Guide cover the Articles of Confederation
through the Ratification of the Constitution.
- At
the conclusion of the lesson, you may want to refer to the complaints
listed on page 2 of the reading, and then, look at Article III, Section
1 of the Constitution (Supreme Court Justices’ tenure and compensation)
and the Bill of Rights. Students should be able to determine how colonial
complaints were addressed in the Constitution. (This is an extension
and interpretation for TEK 8.16 C) Also, if you have “Read and
Understand the Constitution,” a set of guided reading lessons
for the Constitution by Barbara Jennings this is a good place to teach
those lessons.
- This
is a good time to allow students to perform the play, The Constitutional
Convention, a Dramatization by Barbara Jennings from Rayco Publishing
